In response to Megan Schmitt’s, “The Easy Way to Catch Ride” ( https://justtalkingsomeschmitt.wordpress.com/2015/07/08/the-easy-way-to-catch-a-ride/)
At first I was super weirded out by the idea of a random stranger driving me to a destination. It almost seems too good to be true and is way more convenient and financially feasible than calling a taxi. However, after doing some in-depth research and reading this article, I agree with Schmitt saying that Uber and Lyft are some of the best innovations over the past couple of years.
All Uber and Lyft drivers do have to undergo a background and drug test to be certified drivers and get rated on the apps to ensure safe driving. After you are done riding in one of their cars, you can rate them and they can rate you too. This means if you get a bad review, other uber drivers can choose to decline picking you up.
I also agree with Schmitt that it has saved me a lot of time and money especially when I’m in a new city. It’s so much easier and less of a hassle not to worry about transportation and bus times.
It will be interesting what people come up with next when making technology more efficient in keeping up with our every day lives and culture.
